Our Cracker appreciated his home turf at Canberra in winning the Benchmark 55 Handicap over 1300 metres this afternoon. At his last start just under three weeks ago, Our Cracker travelled a bit over 2000 kilometres to Broken Hill where he ran fifth in a Class 3 race on the red dirt track – today, he strolled down from the stables and raced on a lovely grass cushion. He was also the beneficiary of ‘the perfect ride’ from Scott Pollard who positioned him ideally and timed his run in the straight to perfection to win by a head on the line. Today was his fourth win from his 31 starts and qualifies him as a Stable Star on the website.

Our Cracker is owned by Peter, Barbara and Paul in partnership with Don and Bly Miers. Peter, Barbara, Don and Bly accompanied Our Cracker in the trip to Broken Hill and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The thrill of today’s win shows that you never become complacent (Bly’s shrieks from the grandstand could be heard all over the course) as they have owned a Group 1 winner (Merimbula Bay).

Their joy is infectious and hopefully that will continue for the stable on Saturday when Just A Blur runs in the Country Championship – good luck to JJR and the owners.
