Kiss In The Dark Leaves Rivals In Her Shadow At Wagga

Jan 07, 2017

Kiss In The Dark gave connections an early Christmas present when she took out the Cooparoo Park Class 3 Showcase Handicap (1600m) at Wagga – her second win at the track.

Guided by in-form apprentice jockey Rachel Hunt, Kiss In The Dark was quick out of the barriers before settling midfield.

The five-year-old mare by Dane Shadow travelled nicely with cover before making her move in the straight.

She chased hard all the way down the straight, claiming victory by a head from short priced favourite Forever New York and Willy White Socks.

“I was very impressed by the way she traveled in the race and was strong on the line to claim the promising Forever New York,” trainer Paul Jones said.

“She never stopped trying.”

While connections were jumping for joy, punters who backed Kiss In The Dark were smiling too.

The win paid $10, making for a tidy return.

It was also a day of celebration for the Murrumbidgee Turf Club which hosted its first Country Showcase meeting where each race had a minimum prize pool of $30,000.

“The prize money for Country Showcase meetings is fantastic and we are so happy to have been able to claim a share of it,” Paul Jones said.

Kiss In The Dark is owned and raced by Hancox Bloodstock.
